Balenciaga Fall 2013

Ever since we heard the news that Alexander Wang was chosen as the head designer for Balenciaga, we’ve been excited to see what he would come up with. Both being avid fans of Nicolas Ghesquière and his signature motorcycle inspired bags, we wondered if Wang could keep Balenciaga in a place of fashion cult-like stardom. The collection shown on the runway was very reflective of Wang’s style and his own signature line. With a black, white, and grey color palette, clean and simple silhouettes, and strategically placed cutouts, the new Balenciaga takes a more minimalistic approach that speaks volumes to a younger crowd. What we especially loved were the structured satchel bags and the out of the box footwear that enhanced the overall look of the ready to wear collection. Only time will tell if Alexander Wang is a good fit for Balenciaga but based on his first attempt, we think it will be a success!

Wouldn’t you think they had enough with the mockery when these hairy accessories were first spotted on their Spring/Summer ’13 runway? Seems like no, since we’ve just spotted these Celine furry pumps in their latest campaigns. All of a sudden the muppet’s song is on playback in our heads…

Chanel Couture Spring 2013

The Chanel Couture Spring 2013 show was, as expected, a brilliant combination of showmanship, design, and unexpected fashionable surprises. Karl Lagerfeld is this generation’s fashion maestro and where his wand points, the fashion masses are sure go. This year the clothes didn’t disappoint, but what literally tore my heart into pieces were these lace over the knee boots. Jaw-dropping and a little heartbreaking and maybe the best thing since sliced bread? This shoe-whore is definitely head over heels in love. So I decided to write a little vow to these Chanel boots and it goes something like this- “I will get you. If it means spending every last dime in my savings account, I will get you. I will get you and I will love you for the rest of my life so help me God as long as we both shall live…”

Dior Couture 2013

From the garden setting, to the intricate details, Raf Simons is doing Dior a lot of good. The 2013 Couture collection was a feast for the eyes consisting of neutral color palettes, floral appliques, simple silhouettes, genius color-blocking, and chic accessories. Especially loved the embellished gloves and the futuristic silver pumps. Overall, the garden party was a brilliant success! For more looks, visit style.com.
