Nanette Lepore Fall 2010

One of the shows we absolutely loved was Nanette Lepore!  The collection was fun and flirty (in true Nanette form) and the rich color scheme was simply a feast for the eyes.  One of our favourite pieces was the fuschia dress with the cap sleeves and huge balloon skirt.  In addition, we loved the layering of satin and sequins and the deep red pieces.  Can’t wait for Fall 2010 now for yet another reason.  Pure torture!!!

We end our recap of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week with a heavy heart because dear Chic Readers we had a BLAST!  As we recall the excitement of the last two days we only hope that we can repeat the trek to Fashion Week again and again…

Day 5:

  • On our way to the Nanette Lepore show we had the surprise of a lifetime!  Exiting the Michael Kors show were the movers and shakers of the fashion industry.  The likes of Rachel Zoe, Brad, and Rob, Donald Trump and Melania, Garance Dore, Scott Schuman, Tommy Ton, Miroslava Duma, and Caroline Rotfield were literally within feet of us!  We were even lucky enough to chat with Tommy, Scott, and Garance telling them how much we admired their work and they were extremely gracious and sweet.
  • Upon entrance to the tents, we bumped in to none other than Mr Joe Zee of Elle and of course made sure to snap a picture.  Unfortunately, Sarah still had ‘morning face’ and so you’ll have to settle for a pic of his gorgeous face and only a piece of hers.
  • The Nanette Show was amazing and the color scheme was very rich.  All in all, perfect for Fall.  Sitting front row was Kelly Osbourne (surprisingly tiny in real life) and cutie Abigail Breslin.  We also got the chance to introduce ourselves to Robert Verdi (stylist of Eva Longoria) and were pleasantly surprised at how modest and sweet he was.
  • After Nanette we decided to head to Le Pain Quotidien for a quick bite to eat.  On the way, Sarah’s picture was taken by a freelance photographer for one of our fave webstites elle.com and so hopefully it was good enough to get posted!
  • We settled down in Le Pain only to realize that none other than Kate Lanphear was sitting a few tables down! After much deliberation, Sarah decided to take a risk and go over to say hello.  She was extremely kind, down to earth, and gorgeous in real life and all in all a pleasure to meet!
  • We left Le Pain on a high and bumped into a girl whose street style we loved.  We asked to snap a pic and came to realize that she was Ann Yee, a designer who just showcased her collection for the first time at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.  Stay tuned to hear more about this girl and her beautiful collection.
  • On the way to Milly, we had a few more sightings from the Phillip Lim show.  Taylor Tomasi and our new friend the lovely Lynn Yaeger among some of the same people from that morning.
  • After Milly it was off to Mercer Kitchen once again and a visit to Le Crepe to reward ourselves for a wonderful day.

Day 6:

  • On the way to the tents, we ran into none other than Suze Yalof once again. She told us that she loved our coverage of our first day at fashion week and we must say we are extreeeeeeeeeeeeeemely flattered!  Love ya Suze :)
  • The TRIAS show was pretty impressive.  The designer managed to create a simple yet innovative collection and we were both in love.
  • Next was a lovely lunch at Nobu.  The food was fantastic and we were glad that it was one of those restuarants with well-deserved hype.
  • Onto the last show of the week: the J. Mendel presentation.  The clothes were absolutely stunning and it was a great way to end our trip.
  • From J. Mendel straight to the airport where we bid adieu to New York and the wonderful adventures it had to offer.  ‘Till we meet again…

Lela Rose Fall 2010

Lela Rose’s Fall 2010 fashion show was one of our most anticipated shows this season. She definitely knows how to dress a woman.  We were so excited to be there, and we loved the energy of the show.   The crowd was feeling the music and clothes, it was all smiles. Here’s a look at the show’s finale.  Theme of the night?  The graphite drawings of nighttime skies by Vija Celmins’ Hubble Telescope images of lunar floors, and the shattered landscape of the Galapagos islands.  Talk about getting back to nature…
